FAQs

We thought it might be helpful to share some answers to common questions and clarify some of our ‘rules’ so that you can make an informed booking.

Children - As the parents of four young children, we are more than happy to welcome nature-loving families. We’ll do everything we can to ensure your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

Dogs - While we love dogs, we have a no-dog policy on-site. This is for a few reasons: firstly, it helps keep the tents cleaner and more comfortable for everyone. We also have two farm cats, Harry and Ron, who are the friendliest cats in the world! You’ll likely meet them as they love visitors. Since they enjoy exploring, we ask that you zip up your tent when you're not around to prevent them from wandering in. During meal times, we make sure they’re kept away, so they don’t disturb you too much. Additionally, we have recently adopted two donkeys from the Donkey Sanctuary, and we’re working to restore the farm to its original state, which includes looking after rescued chickens from the British Hen Welfare Trust. We understand this might influence your decision to stay, and we apologize if that’s the case. If you need recommendations for local kennels, we’re happy to help.

No Smoking Site - Lower Monkton is a no-smoking site. For safety reasons, this is non-negotiable, as the tents and surrounding grass make it a fire risk. We apologise if this is a dealbreaker, but we do ask that guests smoke only by the road.

Wi-Fi - We’re in a remote area, so there is no Wi-Fi in the tents. However, there is 4G signal, and we are happy to offer you access to the house’s Wi-Fi. There’s also a bench outside where you can sit to catch the signal. But we believe that the lack of Wi-Fi is one of the joys of staying here—it’s the perfect opportunity for a real rural escape.

Noise - We cater to individuals and families who appreciate the peace and quiet of rural living. While most of our neighbors are wildlife, we do have some lovely human neighbors in the old barn on the farm. We ask that noise levels are kept to a reasonable level. We trust this won’t be an issue, but we reserve the right to ask guests to leave if noise becomes a persistent problem. It’s also worth mentioning that our resident buzzards nest in the old trees surrounding the glamping field. We hope their home will remain permanent, so excessive noise could impact their nesting.

Train, Planes, and Automobiles - If you’re not keen on bringing a car or are flying in from further away, we offer complimentary collection and drop-off services to the following:

  • Cardiff International Airport

  • Llantwit Major Train Station

  • Bridgend Rail Station
